Bamboo-zled

Bamboo is one to be one of the hottest new materials in home improvement and decoration. Lately, I’m seeing new products made from this plant popping up everywhere. Bamboo cutting boards, like this one from elsewares.com, have been popular for awhile. Last week Rachel wrote about new bamboo sheets that she found. Now, I’ve found some beautiful bamboo countertops and backsplashes from TotallyBamboo.com.
The countertops come in four different grain patterns and are available in 1½" and 2" thicknesses. The bamboo is laminated to keep the planks from warping and the laminate is non-toxic, food grade and formaldehyde free. They sell for $30 per square foot plus installation.
It’s no surprise that bamboo is becoming such a popular alterative to traditional materials. Bamboo is durable (it’s 16% harder than maple) and beautiful. Plus, it's environmentally-friendly and highly sustainable.
