Yesterday I started to tell you about some of the trends that Rachel and I saw at New York International Gift Fair. One post wasn't nearly enough to cover everything though, so today I thought today I'd tell you a little bit more.

Maybe collections of shells aren't as hot as they used to be, but that doesn't mean that shells are out. Mother-of-pearl, like the inlay in these picture frames from Cole River, seems to be really hot right now. In addition picture frames, we saw lots of tabletop items that used mother of pearl, capiz and similar materials. There were salad bowls and serving spoons, knives with beautiful mother of pearl handles, and lots more. The nice thing about this material is that it looks different in almost every case, thanks to the slight variations in the color and pattern in the natural materials. Definitely a beautiful and unique gift or a lovely way to set your table.
