No more cords and wires?
When I moved into my house about 4 years ago I decided not to get a landline for my telephone and I’ve been completely dependant on my cell phone ever since. It’s been pretty convenient actually. I get my calls no matter where I am and everyone knows my number. My husband, however, has recently started talking about how badly we need a landline. This has caused some friction because, I confess, I just don’t see the urgency. In deference to him, though, I raised the subject with a few people at the office and was surprised how passionately they responded, both for and against only having a cell phone.
One of them sent me a link to this new study, which found that Americans are favoring cell phones over landlines. This is only 2 years after a similar study found that landlines were the technology on which respondents were most dependent. In April 2006, the landline phone was number one on the list of technologies that people said they would have the most trouble giving up. This year, cell phones top the list while landlines come in fourth.
I thought this had some interesting implications for decorating since there are so many cords and wires that need to be hidden when you have a landline. Tell me what you think about this new trend towards cell phones only?
