Home Style for the Stars at the Emmy Awards

Will you be watching the Emmy Awards this Sunday? I usually don't have the patience to sit through the awards show, but I do like to watch what the celebrities are wearing and see the new trends—in clothes and home decor. I know, you don't really expect to get decorating ideas from an awards show, but every year Architectural Digest chooses a designer to create a space where the presenters and nominees can relax before the show. This year, Architectural Digest picked celebrity designer Martyn Lawrence-Bullard. And what trends did Lawrence-Bullard highlight in his Greenroom...

He combined a palette of deep red, olive green, dark brown and Mediterranean blue with Turkish- and Moorish-style furniture and rich leather floors under an 18-foot-high tent to create this opulent-looking space.

While I probably can't afford antique furniture like the tea tables with inlaid mother-of-pearl and tortoise shell from 1stdibs.com, a custom-designed 12' x 14' hand-knotted rug from The Rug Company or leather floor tiles that are made using a process so complicated that only one tannery in the world is capable of producing them, there are affordable alternatives out there to help you get a similar look. For example, this leather ottoman from Pier 1 and these candle lanterns from Target are stylish but won't cost a fortune.
